
James A. “Jim” Longwell Jr., 69, of Vandalia, IL, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 07, 2025.
Per Jim’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 14, 2025 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home, Vandalia with Pastor Zach Schaeffer officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 AM, Friday, at the funeral home. James Alvin Longwell Jr. was born on September 04, 1955 in Clayton, MO, the son of James Alvin and Betty Mae (Garrett) Longwell Sr. He married Connie Joyce Beesley on December 11, 1974. Together they had six children and celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Jim was employed by Belpark, Ltd.- Custom Farm Service in Shobonier, IL for 30 years. He was quite an outdoorsman and enjoyed working on the farm, fishing, gardening, and canning his harvest. Though a dedicated worker, Jim always made time for his family and cherished every moment spent with them.
He will forever be remembered by his wife, Connie Longwell of Vandalia; sons, Michael Longwell, James “Darren” Longwell, and Cory Longwell with Tracey Sarchet, all of Vandalia; daughters, Nicole Longwell with Kenny Thompson of Vandalia, Heather Longwell with Randy Vincent of Ramsey, and Amber Longwell with Timothy Cox of Decatur; brothers, Clarence Longwell of Nokomis, Leroy Longwell of Bingham, and Steven Longwell of Greenville; sisters, Shirley Snider of Raymond and Linda Easley of Shobonier; grandchildren, Breezy, Chloe, Steven, Cole, Jamie, Donavon, Bailey, Lexi, Tabby, Brayden, Sadie, Haley, Maddi, Tim Jr., and Teddy; great-grandchildren, Al and Bentley.
Mr. Longwell was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Earl Longwell; and sister, Cathy McElroy.
