(Springfield, IL) — Illinois public schools will continue teaching LGBTQ+ issues, Black, and Asian American history despite a federal warning. State Superintendent Tony Sanders says despite a recent federal government warning, accurately portraying the contributions of these groups is required by the Illinois’ Inclusive Curriculum Law. The federal Department of Education recently warned that schools risk losing federal funding if they continue with diversity initiatives. The warning doesn’t carry the weight of law.
