Fayette Co Board working to get out more information on proposed Courthouse & Jail project

The Fayette County Board is working to get out more information to the public in regards to the proposal to build a new courthouse and jail. Fayette County Board Chairman Jacob Harris says they have established a website—www.fayettecourthouseproject.com—where folks can get more information on the project.

Folks from the Fayette County Board are working to get out and about to better explain the situation to more and more people. Harris says he believes as they are doing that more and more people understand the situation.

The Fayette County Board has placed a potential 1% sales tax increase on the April 1^st Consolidated Election ballot. If voters approve, the increase would be used to pay for a new Fayette County Courthouse and Jail to be built just south of Auto Zone in Vandalia. The facility would be a 59,700 square foot facility with an 80 bed jail.
