A new study reveals the economic impact of the retail sector in Illinois.
The Illinois Retail Merchants Association sponsored the study, which found retail directly contributes more than $112 billion in economic investment annually. President Rob Karr says the retail sector supports nearly 2.5 million jobs.
Deputy Governor Andy Manar says that retail workforce is helping the keep Illinois’ engine running.
The study was conducted by the University of Cincinnati Economics Center, which provides non-partisan economic data, and was funded by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
