(Chicago, IL) — Illinois is eliminating subminimum wage and expanding employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Governor Pritzker signed the Dignity in Pay Act into law yesterday.
The bill primarily implements a plan to phase out subminimum wage for people with disabilities by December 31st, 2029. The measure ends Illinois’ certificate program, which allows some employers to pay people with disabilities less than the minimum wage.
