Danny Norman Michel, 86, of Vandalia, Illinois, passed away Friday, January 17, 2025, at Fayette County Hospital Long Term Care in Vandalia, IL.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, January 24, 2025, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Vandalia, IL with Pastor Brett Cornelius officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Fairlawn Cemetery, Vandalia, IL. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Friday, January 24, 2025, at the church. Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church and/or the Vandalia Volunteer Fire Department. Miller Funeral Home, Vandalia, IL, is in charge of arrangements. Danny was born January 17, 1939, in Vandalia, IL, the son of Norman Wilhelm & Mabel Emma Maria (Rubin) Michel. He married Linda Lee Mabry on June 15, 1958, in Vandalia, IL. He worked for Michel’s Feed Store, Barenfanger Construction, Hurst-Rosche Engineers in Hillsboro, IL, and also served as Fayette County Sheriff. He served on the Vandalia Volunteer Fire Department for 10 years, was member of the Vandalia City Council, and a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
He is survived by: Wife – Linda Michel; Sons – Dan B. Michel and Patrick Michel; Daughter – Molly Kirk & Mark, all of Vandalia, IL; Grandchildren – Joe Kirk & Lorin and Dana Kern & Craig; Great Grandchildren – Max, Hank, Gus, and Halle; Sisters-in-law – Elaine Michel and Martha Michel, both of Vandalia, IL; and his beloved dog – Ruby.
Preceded in death by: His Parents; and Brothers – Bill and Bob Michel.
