David Goldsboro, 98, of Brownstown, died at 4:55 p.m., Monday, December 16, 2024 at Aperion Care, St. Elmo.
Private family services were held on December 19, 2024 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Brownstown with Don Thomas officiating. Burial followed at Griffith Cemetery and military rites by Brownstown VFW Post #9770 and Vandalia Crawford-Hale American Legion Post #520 were held. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for children.
David B. Goldsboro was born on Monday, November 8, 1926 in rural Brownstown to Wilson and Iva (Buchanan) Goldsboro. He married Geraldine J. Harre on January 31, 1944 and she preceded him in death on April 1, 2020. He was a proud United States Navy Veteran serving in World War II and was present at the signing of the peace treaty with Japan. He was a retired farmer and retired from Vandalia Correctional Center as a correctional officer. David was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Brownstown, Brownstown VFW Post #9770, Crawford-Hale American Legion #520, Altamont Masonic Lodge #533. He was a member of Ainad Shrine and Tin Lizzy Patrol.
He is survived by; his sons, Larry (Jody) Goldsboro, Vandalia and Dean (Diane) Goldsboro, Vincennes, IN; daughters, Gloria (Steve) Austin, St. Elmo and Cheryl Swick, Brownstown; 11 Grandchildren; 22 Great Grandchildren; and 15 Great Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by; his wife, Geraldine Goldsboro; parents; brothers, Oral, LeRoy and Paul Goldsboro; son-in-law, Bill Swick; and grandson, Bruce Austin.
