(Decatur, IL) — The former Sangamon County deputy charged in the killing of Sonya Massey in Springfield in July could be released from custody soon. Sean Grayson appeared by Zoom yesterday in court, where a hearing was scheduled for Friday to determine the conditions of his release. An Illinois appellate court ruled last week that the state didn’t provide enough evidence to keep Grayson in jail until his trial. The Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office is appealing the ruling. Grayson’s next pre-trial hearing is set for January 13th.
