A former precinct captain and Cook County commissioner has explained how campaign work for former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan led to monthly payments from ComEd contractors.
Ed Moody testified Wednesday at the corruption trial of Madigan and codefendant Mike McClain.
Moody said he understood he was receiving payments from McClain and others because of the political work he was doing for Madigan.
In a wiretapped phone call from February of 2019, McClain asked Frank McNeil if he wanted to see Madigan about contracts.
McNeil is a former Springfield alderman who worked in various state offices.
Madigan and McClain are charged with bribery, racketeering and official misconduct.
