Revised estimates indicate that the corruption trial of former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan will last longer than initially projected.
Judge John Robert Blakey advised jurors Monday that the trial would continue through mid-January, after earlier suggesting that it would end before Christmas.
Prosecutors have built their case with a series of wiretapped recordings.
In a call dated February 20, 2019, codefendant Michael McClain told former ComEd CEO Anne Pramaggiore and ComEd lobbyist John Hooker that he responded to requests from Madigan’s son Andrew.
McClain also expressed concerns about Joe Dominguez, Pramaggiore’s replacement as CEO.
Madigan and McClain are facing 23 counts of bribery, racketeering and official misconduct.
