It is Election Day. Polls are open around the nation today for the Presidential Election. Polls are open in Illinois from 6 am to 7 pm.
Outside of President, there is little to vote on in Fayette County. There are the much-talked-about 3 non-binding propositions asking for a non-binding Yes or No vote. Other than that, nothing is contested in Fayette County.
Republicans will maintain their seats in the area. Congresswoman Mary Miller, State Senator Jason Plummer and State Representative Blaine Wilhour are all running unopposed for re-election today. As for Fayette County, Republicans will also maintain their seats. Circuit Clerk Kathy Emerick, State’s Attorney Brenda Mathis, Coroner Dave Harris and Supervisor of Assessments Ryan Parks are all running unopposed today. As for the County Board, there are 7 seats up for election today—but there are only candidates in three of them. Republican Joe Wills in District 1, Republican Ryan Ray Tomkins in District 4 and Republican Michael Black in District 5 are running unopposed. No one is seeking the open seats in District 2, District 3, District 6 or District 7
