A 37-year old Brownstown man has been sentenced in Fayette County Court to 18 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to home invasion and aggravated arson charges. Tyler J. Roe appeared in court on Tuesday morning for what was a schedule pre-trial hearing where it was announced that a plea agreement had been reached. Under the plea agreement, Roe pleaded guilty to one count of home invasion and one count of aggravated arson, both Class X felonies. Roe received a sentence of 18 years in IDOC for the counts with time served for 306 days with 3 years mandatory supervised release. With having to serve 50% of his sentence, he will spend around 8 years in IDOC and is also ordered to pay restitution and undergo substance abuse counseling. As part of the agreement, the lesser charges of residential burglary, a Class 1 felony, and theft, a Class 3 felony, were both dismissed.
