But, there’s not a lot to vote on in Fayette County. There is, of course, the Presidential Election. And, there are 3 propositions on the ballot. One asks “Should any candidate appearing on the Illinois ballot for federal, state, or local office be subject to civil penalties if the candidate interferes or attempts to interfere with an election worker’s duties?” The second asks “Should the Illinois Constitution be amended to create and additional 3% tax on income greater than $1,000,000 for the purpose of dedicating funds raised to property tax relief?” And, the third says “Should all medically appropriate assisted reproductive treatments, including, not limited to, in vitro fertilization, be covered by any health insurance plan in Illinois that provided coverage of pregnancy benefits, without limitation on the number of treatments?”
As for other contested races, there aren’t any. The area’s Congresswoman State Senator and State Representative are all running unopposed. The same is true for Fayette County Circuit Clerk, State’s Attorney, Coroner and Supervisor of Assessments. Voters are asked for retention for Judge Amanda S. Ade-Harlow. For Fayette County Board, there are no contested races. In fact, only 3 individuals are running for the total of 7 open seats on the board.
