
The Vandalia City Council approved a liquor license at Monday’s meeting. The council unanimously approved the Class E Liquor License for Joe’s Pizza. At their second meeting in July, Co-Owner Ben Davis said they are also looking to expand at their present location or to construct a new building in the near future. Meanwhile, the City Council also had their first reading on a beer and wine license for Circle K Convenienece Store. Being the first reading, that would mean action would likely be taken at the August 19th meeting.
Meanwhile, the Vandalia City Council opened bids for several parcels of property owned by the City. The following were approved—
616 S. 5th Street property–Bid of $150 by Kent Cripe was approved by the City Council
817 W. Edwards Street property–Bid of $200 by Kent Cripe was approved by the City Council
114 S. 2nd Street property–Bid of $2,500 by John and Janice Noland was approved by the City Council
1719 W. Main Street property–Bid of $400 by Kent Cripe was approve by the City Council
One property at 610 S. 6th Street did not receive a bid. It was pointed out that the new property owners would be required to maintain the property and that property is now back on the property tax rolls.
