(Chicago, IL) — Two new state-supported shelters are beginning to serve migrants in Chicago. One is located near Midway Airport, and the other will be in Hyde Park. The Hyde Park shelter is former hotel shelter that was previously used to quarantine new arrivals from measles. Construction of the Midway Shelter is underway at a former hotel on the Southwest side. The plan is to begin moving in families in July. The two new locations bring the total number of state funded shelters in Chicago to three, with a combined capacity of two-thousand-people.
