In loving memory of Mary Alice Moore, nee Denning, aged 90, who passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 22, 2024 at 7:42 a.m. in Murray, Kentucky. Mary Alice was born on April 29,1934, in Vandalia, Illinois, to Lewis Elmer and Susie Elizabeth (Bethards) Denning.
Mary Alice was a member of the Luster Chapel Lutheran Church and First Assembly of God Church.
Mary Alice was renowned for her skills as a professional seamstress and took great joy in quilting and embroidery. Her musical talents were evident as she loved playing the piano and accordion at church services. Mary Alice retired from Imco/Owens Brockway. During her early retirement years, she was a cook’s assistant for Golden Circle Nutrition program at Vandalia’s Senior Citizen Center.
Mary Alice is survived by by her brother Ralph E. Denning of Washington, IL; daughters, Diane White of Murray, KY; Reita Benson of Rowlett, TX; Wilma Howe of Fair Haven, Ml; and son, Wayne Moore of Iuka, IL, along with numerous grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren, and step great grandchildren. Proceeding her in death were her parents, sister Anna B. Jarrett, brother, Dwight L. Denning, 3 grandchildren, stepchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Hohlt and File Funeral Home in Vandalia, IL, on Saturday, June 29, 2024. Visitation will commence at 10:00 a.m., followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will take place at Pinhook Cemetery, in rural Vandalia.
