Bonnie M. Harrison, 95, of Vandalia, passed away at 3:15 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2024, at Accolade Healthcare, in Danville.
She was born on April 22, 1929, in Vandalia, the daughter of Carl Edward and Olive Rosalie (Gillespie) Smith. She previously married Robert L. Harrison on July 1, 1950, in Vandalia. He preceded her in death on August 13, 2015.
She is survived by her daughter- Sherry Blurton of Vandalia; son- Jerry Harrison of Spain; grandson- Matt (Sarah) Blurton of Potomac; five great-grandchildren- Marcus (Emma Bogen), Makayla and Madilyn Blurton, Aliyah and Brantlee Asbury; brother- Dale (Kay) Smith of Cape Coral, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and sister- Marilyn Eckhardt.
She graduated from Vandalia High School, in 1947. She worked as a bookkeeper at Chappelear from 1947 to 1952 and then Bob’s Body Shop. She started working at IMCO/Brockway Plastics, in 1972, as a decorator and worked there until her retirement, in 1995. Bonnie was a member of the Parkview Free Methodist Church. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, growing African violets, flower gardening and shopping.
A Celebration of Bonnie’s Life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church, in Vandalia, with Pastor Terry Smith and Pastor Dwain Depew officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the church. She will be laid to rest following the services in Fairlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Bonnie’s name to the First Presbyterian Church, in Vandalia. The Blurton Funeral Home, in Potomac, is in charge of the arrangements.
