(Springfield, IL) — Illinois Republican Chairman Don Tracy is stepping down after more than three years at the helm. Tracy announced his resignation yesterday, just weeks before the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. He said his decision was due in part to spending more time dealing with infighting among fellow Republicans than fighting Democrats. His resignation is effective upon the election of a new chairman or no later than July 19th. The announcement comes after the Illinois Republican State Central Committee voted this week to remove Mark Shaw as state party vice chair.
