The Altamont Indians got another come from behind walk off win in the semi-finals of the Class 1A State Tournament on Friday afternoon and will now play for the State Championship.
The Altamont Indians defeated Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley, 3 to 2, at Dozer Park in Peoria in the State Semi-Finals on Friday afternoon to secure their spot in the State Championship game. Altamont got on the board first with a run in the 2nd inning. Kaidyn Miller led off the inning with a double and Riley Berg followed with a single. Kade Milleville would then deliver an RBI single to bring Miller home and give the Indians a 1 to 0 lead. The game would stay that way until the 4th inning when Dillan Elam ran into some trouble. Dillon issued 2 walks and hit another better to load the bases and the Falcons would get 2 runs in to take a 2 to 1 lead. Altamont was able to tie it in the 4th when Kade Milleville delivered an RBI single, again, with two outs, to tie the game up. The game would stay that way until the bottom of the 7th inning. Kaden Davis led off the inning with a single and Dillan Elam followed with a hit to put runners at 1st and 2nd with no one out. After a fly out by Nathan Stuemke and Keegan Schultz at the plate, Kaden Davis took off in an attempt to steal 3rd base. The catcher’s throw sailed into left field. Davis got up from his slide and scampered home well in front of the throw to give the Indians a 3 to 2, walk off win. The victory moves Altamont to 31-9 on the season and moves them into the Class 1A Championship game on Saturday afternoon at 1 pm when they will take on Ottawa Marquette. Marquette defeated Jacksonville Ruott, 9 to 3, to advance.
