(Carlinville, IL) — A bill designed to further regulate funeral homes in Illinois is moving forward. The state House approved a measure this week that would require creating a tagging system with chain of custody documentation for all human remains for any death that happens in the state. The legislation is in response to the mishandling of human remains at the Heinz Funeral Home in Carlinville last year. The bill now moves to the state Senate before heading to Governor Pritzker’s desk.
