Vandalia baseball took a late game lead, and then lost it in the same inning, falling at Lincolnwood, 10-5, on Monday. The Lancers got off to a quick start with four first inning runs and Vandalia would trail 4-0 until the top of the third inning when a RBI single from Carson Lotz would score one run and another run would score on a balk as the Vandals cut the lead to 4-2. After a scoreless fourth and fifth, the Vandals would get going again in the top of the sixth. With one out, Lotz singled to reach base and Andrew Kelly followed that up with a double to left field to put runners at second and third and both were drove in on a RBI single to left field by Kohner Depew to tie the game at 4-4. Andrew Casey singled to center field to score Depew and the Vandals would go up 5-4. Three errors by the Vandals to start the bottom of the sixth would allow Lincolnwood to load the bases and the Lancers would go on a run to push six more runs across the plate for a 10-5 lead that would hold for the win after a scoreless seventh. Vandalia is now 7-5 on the season and will be at Gillespie today.
