After the first day, six Vandalia Jr. High wrestlers are into the semifinals and two more are still alive in the Wrestleback rounds at the IESA State Wrestling Tournament. The tournament’s second day gets underway at 9:00am this morning with the Second Round of Wrestlebacks and the tournament will work through the remaining rounds, leading up to the 3rd thru 6th place matches at 2:45 and then the Championship matches at 5:15pm.

65lbs – Dayton Patterson: Patterson beat Mason Strohm of Wilmington by Fall in 0:38 in the First Round and followed that up with a win by Fall in 0:28 over Tristan Sloan of Port Byron Riverdale. Patterson will face Gabriel Ball of Tremont in the Championship Semifinals.
70lbs – Zander Pratt: Pratt lost to Davis Wisbrock of Westmont JH by Fall in 2:13 in the Championship First Round and then lost to Talon Meyers of Fulton River Bend by Decision, 2-1, in the First Round of Wrestlebacks.
90lbs – Riley Hinton: Hinton beat Doniven Smith of Prospect Heights MacArthur by Fall in 0:45 in the Championship First Round. Hinton beat Cole Harris of Braidwood Reed-Custer by Decision, 7-4, in the Championship Quarterfinal Round. Hinton will face Nate Lower of Taylor Ridge Rockridge in the Championship Semifinals.
95lbs – Aiden Evans: Evans beat Landyn Leech of Orion by Tech Fall (16-0 in 2:54) in the Championship First Round. Evans beat Hank Wettstein of Eureka by Major Decision, 12-4, in the Championship Quarterfinals. Evans will face Tom Erwin of El Paso-Gridley in the Championship Semifinals.
105lbs – Hunter Berning: Berning lost to Landon Peterson of Monmouth-Roseville by Fall in 3:34 in the Championship First Round. Berning lost to Ryder Peterson of Prospect Heights MacArthur by Fall in 0:43 in the First Round of Wrestlebacks.

126lbs – Connor Crockett: Crockett beat Angel Martinez of Deerfield Caruso by Decision, 9-4, in the Championship First Round. Crockett lost to Finn Hoffman of Eureka by Fall in 2:56 in the Championship Quarterfinals. Crockett will face Lain Taylor of Kewanee Central in the Second Round of Wrestlebacks.
135lbs – Zayne Zinkgraf: Zinkgraf beat Emerson Gall of Peotone by Fall in 0:59 in the Championship First Round.
