Two other liquor licenses approved at Monday’s Vandalia City Council meeting could lead to two new businesses opening in town.
The Vandalia City Council approved a Class E Liquor License and Gaming License for the business operated by Don Schomaker of Germantown. At the February 20th Vandalia City Council meeting, Schomaker told the City Council he was planning to open two restaurants in Vandalia in the former locations of Huddle House and Embers on Mattes Avenue. One would be Eddie’s Rise N Dine–which he currently operates one in Breese. The other restaurant would be like an Applebee’s but not the franchise. Both licenses were approved by the City Council by 8-0 votes.
The City Council also approved a Class J Liquor License for Lucky Dogs that is to be located at 1611 Veteran’s Avenue Suite C. The business would be a gaming parlor and would offer a food menu. The representative on hand says he operates 11 similar businesses at this time and all are successful. Alderman Bret Brosman was in favor of approving the liquor license.

That is what this county needs is another gaming and drinking places.I wonder how many of these kind of places we need in this area. When do we put a cap on all these establishments.I thought the city was going to issue only so many licenses. It looks like that went out the window.
