Six members of the Vandalia wrestling team begin competition today at the IHSA 1A Individual State Wrestling Finals in Champaign. All wrestlers will compete once today with a possible second round of competition if they win their preliminary matchup. Preliminary round action for Class 1A will get underway at Noon followed by 2A and 3A. Tonight at 6:45pm, winners from the preliminary round will come back for Quarterfinal action. Wrestling resumes Friday morning with 11:00am with the first round of wrestlebacks.

106lbs – Max Philpot: The freshman Philpot (45-2) will wrestle sophomore Brandon White (37-9) of Dakota.
113lbs – Eli Mabry: The freshman Mabry (34-12) will wrestle senior Anthony Alanis (36-4) of Woodstock Marian.
120lbs – Brody Matthews: The freshman Matthews (34-14) will wrestle junior Culan Lindemuth (31-14) of Coal City.
132lbs – Cole Yarbrough: The freshman Yarbrough (19-4) will wrestle junior Holden Brazelton (45-1) of St. Joe Ogden.
138lbs – Dillon Hinton: The sophomore Hinton (43-3) will wrestle junior Andrew Alvarado (33-12) of Woodstock Marian.
190lbs – Kaden Tidwell: The junior Tidwell (34-9) will wrestle Aiden Sancken (33-6) of Gibson City-Melvon-Sibley.
