Mitch M. Tinker
PENSACOLA, FL – Mitch M. Tinker, age 86, passed away on January 19, 2024, in Pensacola, Florida. She was born on April 25, 1937, in Pensacola.
She was married in 1956 to Charles L. Tinker of Vandalia, Illinois, while he was stationed at NAS Pensacola early in his career as a Naval Aviator.
Mitch was a lover of life, friends, and family, and she was quick with her wit and a smile. As a Navy wife during wartime, Mitch’s house became a hub for the other wives whose husbands had been deployed. Even in light of the circumstances, Mitch was able to provide some levity and enjoyment of life. She loved to have a good time with her girls with her special, somewhat unconventional “something.” A friend of hers once made a needlepoint that said “Mitch did for Navy protocol what the bomb did for Hiroshima.” That needlepoint has hung in the family farmhouse for decades.
Mitch is survived by her son, Christopher, daughter-in-law Colleen, grandsons Charles Tinker, Connor Tinker, Colin Tinker, and granddaughter-in-law Veronica. She is preceded in passing by her son Charles, Jr., son Richard (Kemp), and her beloved husband Charles Sr.
Visitation will take place February 2, 2024 at Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia, Illinois from 1:00-1:30 pm followed by a graveside service at 2:00 pm at Morton Cemetery. Hohlt & File Funeral Home in Vandalia, Illinois is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Please join us in celebrating the life of Mitch M. Tinker and honoring her memory.
