The Illinois State Police have announced the arrest and charges announced.
The Illinois State Police Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 8 announce the arrest of a 17 year old male from St. Peter for First Degree Murder (Class M Felony) and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (Class 1 Felony).
The Illinois State Police says in their release that after a thorough investigation, the Fayette County State’s Attorney’s Office will be charging the 17 year old with First Degree Murder and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm on Wednesday, January 24th. The 17 year old is currently is currently in custody at the Fayette County Jail.
On January 20th at approximately 8:13 pm, State Police DCI Zone 8 was requested by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office to conduct a homicide investigation in St. Peter. A 14 year old male was shot and killed inside a residence in the 700 block of 2200 Street in rural St. Peter.
ISP DCI Zone 8 was assisted by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Fayette County Coroner, ISP Troop 9 Patrol, and ISP Crime Scene Services. The release states that no further information is available at this time.
