SALEM — Class 3A Salem held the Vandalia boys basketball team to 29 percent shooting from the field and forced 17 turnovers, rolling to a 65-31 non-conference win over the Vandals Saturday night.
The Vandals (8-8) never got much going offensively and were particularly cold from 3-point range, making just 1 of 11 long-distance shots after shooting over 50 percent from beyond in the two previous games.
Salem enjoyed a 17-11 lead after one quarter of play and built a 20-point halftime lead, 39-19, thanks largely to five second-quarter 3-pointers.
Kohner Depew finished with 10 points on 5-for-10 shooting, but he was the only Vandal to reach double figures in the scoring column.
Vandalia will return to action Tuesday at home against Columbia.
