Altamont defeated South Central 65-40 in girls National Trail Conference action on Thursday night in Altamont. The Lady Indians got out to a quick 17-4 first quarter lead and outscored the Lady Cougars 25-14 in the second quarter as Altamont pulled ahead of South Central 42-20 at halftime. A 21-11 run through the third quarter by the Indians widened the Cougars deficit to 63-31 at the end of the third quarter. South Central would put some things together in the fourth to outscore Altamont 9-2 in the period but the run was too late as the Indians closed out the 65-40 win. The win made it the s13th in a row for Altamont who moves to 15-2 on the season and will play again on Saturday when they face Christopher at 5:00pm in the PAWS Shootout at Breese Central High School. South Central drops to 9-8 on the season and will be back in action on Monday at home when they host Vandalia.
