Altamont senior Nathan Stuemke has made his future baseball plans official, signing his letter of intent to play baseball for Lake Land College beginning next year. After announcing his commitment over the summer, Stuemke made it official this week with his signing surrounded by family, coaches and teammates. With making his decision official, Stuemke says the Lakers coaching staff was a big factor in his decision as well as the facilities and support at Lake Land.
Moving on to the collegiate level and still being close enough to home for his parents and family to come watch him play regularly was also a major part of his decision to choose Lake Land.
Stuemke has been a mainstay in the Altamont Indians lineup spending the majority of his time behind the plate anchoring teams that just finished the fall season at 17-7 and played to a 25-9 record during this past spring. Stuemke was named First Team National Trail All Conference for 2023 and Second Team National Trail All Conference for 2022. Stuemke is also a member of the Indiana Expos travel baseball organization, playing all over the Midwest in the summer spending his time catching and pitching.
Stuemke joins a Lakers program that went 23-34 during the 2023 season and will kick off their 2024 season on February 28 at home against Kankakee Community College.
