Old Capitol Monument Works in Vandalia has been sold, Update on former County Market building

Old Capitol Monument Works in Vandalia has been sold—with two different businesses buying part of the business.

At last week’s Vandalia City Council meeting, Mayor Rick Gottman informed the Vandalia City Council the business had sold.  Mayor Gottman said the monument part of the business was purchased by Weiss Monument Works from Belleveille.  Gottman said the vault part of the business was purchased by Rex Vault Service of Newton.  Mayor Gottman said that, in addition to vaults, they will also sell septic tanks, parking blocks and storms shelters.  Alderman Bret Brosman asked Mayor Gottman for clarification on where the businesses were located at this time.

As for the former County Market building, Mayor Gottman says there is no update at this time.  The owner of the building, Hy Vee, has not made any decision on pricing for the building at this time.  County Market closed on October 6th.
