A Brownstown man has been arrested following an incident where a shot was fired inside a residence and law enforcement say the man fled the scene.
Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reports say that on Thursday evening at 7:38 pm they received a 911 call in reference to a male subject being hostile and not wanting to leave the residence in rural Brownstown. Reports say that once the first Deputy arrived on scene it was made known that the situation had become a domestic battery, a firearm had been involved, a shot was fired inside of the residence and the male subject fled the residence on foot. No one inside the residence was struck by the gunshot.
The report says that upon arrival of further law enforcement officers, a perimeter was set up, and a ground search of the immediate area was conducted. While conducting the ground search Illinois State Police Air Operations was contacted and a plane was requested to the area to assist in locating the male subject.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reports says that at 10:22 pm, 38 year old Cody A Summers was located next to a field in a tree line northwest of the residence. The report says that Summers came out of the tree line and was taken into custody without further incident. The report says that firearm was later located in the tree line a short distance away. The report says the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is very thankful that neither Cody Summers, the people inside the residence, nor any of the responding deputies and officers were hurt during the incident.
