The South Central Cougars got out to a big lead early and rolled from there in a 11-4 win over Windsor/Stew-Stras in the quarterfinals on the National Trail Conference Tournament on Monday. After the Hatchets took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, the Cougars responded with a pair of runs in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI single by Colton Smith and a sacrifice fly by Maddox Robb. Consistent small ball in the second inning would bring in six more runs for South Central as they extended their lead out to 8-1. WSS would add on two more runs in the fifth to cut the Cougar lead to 8-4, but South Central would match WSS in the bottom of the fifth with three runs themselves for an 11-4 lead that would had as the final. With the win, South Central moves to 15-7 on the season and advances to the NTC Tournament semifinals where the #3 seed Cougars will take on #2 seed Altamont at 4:00pm on Wednesday at Altamont.
