With first place in the regular season for the National Trail Conference on the line, the Altamont Indians were unable to take advantage of their six hits in the game, falling to St. Anthony 4-0 on Tuesday at Paul Smith Field in Effingham. Altamont’s first scoring threat to score came in the top of the second inning after a single from Ethan Robbins was followed up by Eli Miller being hit by the pitch and the Kaden Davis lining a single to right field to load the bases. A groundout would end the threat and St. Anthony would go on to put up three runs in the bottom of the third for a 3-0 lead and added another in the fourth for a 4-0 lead. The Indians would again threaten in the top of the fifth when Nathan Stuemke reached base on an error after a Justin Magelitz walk and then Dillon Elam singled to load the bases. Back to back strikeouts would end the Altamont threat and the Indians would go three up, three down in the sixth and seventh innings as the Bulldogs closed out the 4-0 win over Altamont. The Indians are now 14-6 on the season and finish the NTC regular season at 7-1. They will await the official pairings for the National Trail Conference tournament which starts Friday and are set to play Woodlawn at home on Saturday morning at 10:00am.
