Charlene Pryor, 76, of Vandalia, IL, passed away at 12:32 PM, Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at Greenville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
Per Charlene’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. A Private Graveside Service will be held at Edgewood Cemetery, Litchfield with Pastor Zach Shaeffer officiating. Charlene McNeil was born on March 14, 1947 in Cape Girardeau, MO, the daughter of Charles W. & Virginia L. (Brockmeir) McNeil Jr. She was a former head produce clerk at Vandalia Kroger for 14 years. Charlene then began working for Illinois Department of Corrections as a correctional officer; retiring from Graham Correctional Center, Hillsboro. Throughout the years, Charlene had several hobbies; she enjoyed quilting, crafting, gardening, and cooking. She also had an avid love for travel and a passion in supporting Parkinson’s disease, including traveling all over with a quilt she helped design for the Parkinson’s organization. Most of all, she cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.
Ms. Pryor is survived by her daughter, Heidi & husband Sheldon Schulte of Vandalia; son, Matthew Pryor & wife Ashley of Vandalia; daughter, Ginny Pryor & husband Danny Robinson of Hillsboro; brother, Robert McNeil & wife Sharon of Loveland, CO; grandchildren, Haley & husband Jacob Tompkins, Brendan Boley & Anna Miller, Kaitlin Robinson, Trey Robinson, Ayden Pryor, and Amelia Pryor.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson, Kean Pryor.
