The South Central Storm 16U softball team had a very successful trip south this last week, going 7-0-1 overall and claiming the Championship title of the 16U-C division of the USFA Panama City Beach World Series. Storm opened up pool play on Tuesday with a 7-1 win over South Alabama Lady Titans Wells 16U before shutting out American Thunder 16U, 3-0. Storm continued their roll through pool play with a 7-3 win over Ohio Attack 16U and then wrapped up the day tying the Downers Grove Outlaws Ayala 16U, 6-6. Storm would come back on Wednesday to start bracket play in the Round of 16 after a first round BYE and get with a hard fought 3-2 win over Southwest Ohio Legends 16U to move into the Quarterfinals. After getting one day off from play, Storm would come back on Friday and find themselves in another matchup with South Alabama Lady Titans Wells 16U, again getting the better of SALT with a 10-1 win to get into the Semifinals. Storm would have to survive a big comeback attempt, but would get a 5-4 win over Gametime Bryant 16U to punch their ticket to the Championship game. Storm used a strong offensive attack in the first and fourth innings to get a big 11-5 win for the title. Storm is 44-19-1 on the 2022-2023 season.
