A new report shows that Illinois is ranked fifth in the country for the most personal injury cases per capita. The report was compiled by the Florida law firm of Anidjar and Levine. It shows that personal injury cases occurred in Illinois at a rate 140 percent over the national average, as the cases comprise over 23 percent of the state’s entire civil caseload. State Representative Dan Ugaste, who has been recognized by the Illinois chapter of Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse, says this is a red flag for businesses in the state.
For the 12 months ending in March, Florida had the most personal injury cases by a wide margin, accounting for over 60 percent of the state’s entire civil caseload.
