It’s kind of a strange day each summer. Most schools have known their football schedule for the upcoming season for months, with some even longer than that. But, it becomes a big deal each year when the IHSA officially releases all the football schedules for the upcoming season.
For the Vandals, they will open their 2023 season on the road at Pana. The Vandals and Panthers will be meeting to open the season for the 3rd straight year–with the Vandals winning last year’s season opening matchup. The Vandals will play their first home game the next week–September 1st–versus Staunton. Another couple of quirks in the schedule is that the Vandals will travel to both Piasa Southwestern and Greenville again this year—both teams they traveled to last year. Another oddity is the Vandals game versus the Greenville Comets will be in week 6 instead of in week 9. The Vandals will have 5 home games and 4 road games this season.
