The Lady Roughnecks 16U team entered the USSSA Illinois 16B State Tournament as the top seed and then powered their way through to claim the Championship. The Lady Roughnecks had their first game against Southern Storm Schmittling deemed a complete game after 5 innings with the Roughnecks leading 8-1 as the tournament hit a storm delay. With their second game on Saturday pushed back to Sunday morning at 8:00am, the Lady Roughnecks picked up where they left off, with a 8-2 win over Bluff City McCune, 8-2, to push into the quarterfinals where they would shutout the Kewanee Ballhawks, 9-0. In the tournament semifinals, the Lady Roughnecks picked up a 6-2 win over Team Mascoutah 07, 6-2, to advance to the Championship game against the Stingers of Jackson, Missouri, where the Lady Roughnecks would get a shutout win, 4-0, to claim the Championship. Over the course of their 5 games, the Lady Roughnecks would go 5-0 and outscore their opponents 35-5. The Lady Roughnecks move to 43-28-1 on the 2023 season and will take the coming weekend off before playing in the Perfect Game Elite 40 Scouting Showcase in Chesterfield, Missouri the weekend of July 14-16.
