Altamont Rolls Over BSE to Advance to Regional Championship Game

The Altamont Indians smashed four home runs and held Brownstown-St. Elmo to two runs in a 15-2 win in the second semifinal game of the Brownstown 1A Regional on Thursday. Altamont’s offense was jump started in the first inning with a 2-run home run from Jared Hammer and an RBI single by Wyatt Phillips for a 3-0 lead. BSE would get one run back in the top of the second inning as an RBI single by Caleb Campbell scored Wyatt Stine to cut the Altamont lead to 3-1. The Indians would go back to the long ball in the bottom of the second with a 2-run home run by Mason Robinson pushing the lead to 5-1 before a sacrifice fly from Kienon Eirhart and a single from Dillan Elam would bring in another two runs for a 7-1 Altamont lead. After a scoreless third inning, Nathan Stuemke would homer for Altamont to lead off the bottom of the fourth to extend the Altamont lead to 8-1 and the Indians would bring in another three runs on a 2-RBI single by Nathan Shepard and a RBI single from Robinson making it 11-1. BSE would get their second and final run of the game in the top of the fifth inning as an RBI single by Kyle Behl scored Jarret Pasley to cut it to 11-2. Altamont would end it with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning though as Nathan Stuemke would hit his second home run of the game, this one a grand slam to tack on four runs and put Altamont up 15-2 and end the game by the run rule. Altamont improves to 25-8 on the season and now moves on to a matchup with St. Anthony in the Regional Championship game at 10:00am on Saturday morning. BSE ends its season with a record of 13-12.
