The City of Vandalia will take over the 4th of July weekend fireworks in the community and will sponsor a brand new event.
The event will be “Summerfest 2023” and will be held on Sunday, July 2nd starting at 2 pm at the Vandalia Lake Beach area. Vandalia City Administrator LaTisha Paslay talks about where the funding will come from for this event.
Audio PlayerPaslay adds she has 3 local music acts set up already and could add 1 or 2 more. The Vandalia Moose Lodge will have a Beer Garden at the event. There will be at least 2 food trucks on hand and there will also be children’s activities. This will all lead up to the fireworks at dusk. The Vandalia City Council approved $13,000 to J & M Displays for the fireworks. Vandalia Mayor Rick Gottman said the Lion’s Club was no longer going to be able to host the fireworks as they did not have the manpower for the event. Mayor Gottman says he has asked the Lion’s Club, Rotary Club and the Greater Fayette County Chamber of Commerce to partner with the city on the event.
