The Vandalia City Council on Monday night said goodbye to a longtime Alderman serving at his last meeting and said hello to his soon-to-be replacement.
Vandalia Mayor Rick Gottman took time during Monday’s meeting to honor outgoing Ward 3 Alderman Joel Rebbe with a plaque for his service. Rebbe has served over 8 years as Alderman as he was originally appointed to the Council on February 17th of 2015, but he chose not to run for another term this year. He will be replaced by Edwin “Bob” Bowen, who ran unopposed for Ward 3 Alderman. During the meeting, Mayor Gottman talked about the fact that Bowen was on hand to observe for the meeting.
Bowen will officially be sworn in at the May 1st Vandalia City Council Meeting. Also, Ward 1 Alderman Ken Hubler, Ward 2 Alderman Russ Stunkel and Ward 4 Alderman Bret Brosman will also be sworn in as all 3 were re-elected for another term.
