The Vandals won Thursday’s pitcher’s duel against Shelbyville in dramatic fashion with a walk-off RBI single from Cayden Hipsher in the bottom of the 8th inning for the 2-1 win at home. Shelbyville got on the scoreboard first with a run in the top of the 2nd inning and it would be three more scoreless innings before the Vandals would get a run on the board, tying things up at 1-1 on an RBI single from Andrew Kelly to score Chase McNary. It would be another two and a half innings before another run would score when the game, in it’s first extra inning, would end when Hipsher hit a two out single to right field to score Preston Nestrick from second base to get the 2-1 win. The Vandals move to 6-7 on the season with the win and go back on the road today for a South Central Conference matchup at Piasa Southwestern.
