Members of the Illinois State Board of Education are discussing their 2024 budget proposal, which includes an increase in funding.
Board Chair Steven Isoye and other board members met with the Illinois House Appropriations Committee and requested an extra $350 million towards the state’s Evidence-Based Funding formula.
The board did receive pushback from committee members as State Rep. Blaine Wilhour says the state needs to perform better in the classroom.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s proposed budget for the coming fiscal year includes an additional $506 million for K-12 education
