Vandalia Mayor discusses potential for expanded walking/bike trails in area

Vandalia Mayor Rick Gottman would like to further discuss the idea of expanded walking/bike trails in the area.

At Monday’s Vandalia City Council meeting, Mayor Rick Gottman said at a recent Southwestern Illinois Counsel of Mayors meeting there was discussion about the extensive walking/bike trails in Madison County.  Mayor Gottman says he would like the individual that addressed that group to come to Vandalia to address one local individual who is very active in such trails, along with the Vandalia Park Board, Fayette County Board Chairman and also representatives from Bond County.

Mayor Gottman says there are grants available to help expand the walking/bike trails in the area.  He says he believes this is something they really need to look at.

Mayor Gottman did not have a date at this time for a meeting but would like to set it up in the near future.
