The Altamont Indians will have a shot at capturing their tenth regional title in program history after beating Carlyle 62-48 in the regional semifinals on Wednesday and earning them a berth in the Nokomis 1A Regional Championship game. Altamont got off to a strong start as Mason Robinson hit for 10 points Wyatt Phillips for 5 points and both Jared Hammer and Avery Jahraus putting up 3 points in the first quarter for a 21-11 lead. Altamont continued their balanced scoring attack in the second quarter as Dillan Elam would get on the board with three points while Logan Cornett, Kienon Eirhart and Eric Kollman all had a bucket to get in the scoring column and help push the Altamont lead to 32-16 at halftime. Carlyle would start to chip away at the Altamont lead in the third but were only able to close the gap to 11 points at the end of the quarter as Jahraus would hot a pair of threes and another basket and Elam would hit a three to help keep Altamont ahead 44-33 heading into the fourth quarter. Carlyle would again keep up their fight and close the gap down to nine points, at 55-46, but Altamont used a 7-2 run to close out the game and pull away for the 62-48 win. Altamont improves to 27-4 on the season and will get the host, Nokomis, in the regional championship game on Friday night at 7:00pm at Nokomis High School.
