It is said that it is tough to beat a team three times in a season, but the Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City Lady Bobcats did just that, beating Windsor/Stew-Stras for the third time this season, this time coming in regular season National Trail Conference action, 54-51, on Thursday night. WSS would have the hot hand to start, getting out to a 7-0 lead before the Bobcats would get their first two points to make it 7-2. From there, CHBC would go on a 9-3 run to pull ahead by one, 11-10, at the end of the quarter. CHBC would get up to a 16-11 lead in the second quarter before WSS would come back and the two teams would end the first half in a 19-19 tie. The Bobcats came out of the break strong, going on a 5-0 run to take a 24-19 lead. With a 37-34 lead, Mady Wojcik would take a pass on the left wing and toss up a three-pointer right before the buzzer that would drop to give CHBC a 40-34 lead heading into the fourth quarter. WSS would go on a run of their own to start the fourth quarter, with back to back three-pointers. Sitting in the bonus for almost the whole quarter, CHBC would go 10 for 13 from the free throw line in the period as they would hold off WSS for the 54-51 win. CHBC moves to 15-8 on the season and 5-2 in the NTC with one conference game left to play on Monday at home against Brownstown-St. Elmo. Before that though, CHBC will go back on the road for a makeup game at Newton on Saturday at 10:00am.
