The Vandalia girls basketball team picked up their third win in a row on the road Monday night, beating Flora 55-48 in non-conference action. The two teams would trade baskets throughout the first quarter and the Lady Vandals would hold a 11-9 lead heading into the second quarter. Flora would hit the first bucket of the second quarter to tie the game, but a Vandalia three-pointer would put the Vandals on top 14-11 and they would go on to take a 31-22 lead at halftime. Flora would close the gap to six points, but Vandalia would go on a 13-7 run to take a 48-36 lead going into the fourth quarter. Flora would mount a comeback, cutting the Lady Vandals lead to 49-46, but Vandalia would end the game on a 6-2 run to hold off the Wolfgals and complete the 55-48 win. The Lady Vandals are now 5-3 on the season. They will be back on the road on Thursday as they travel to Litchfield for a South Central Conference matchup. The two teams have met once already this season with Vandalia beating Litchfield 56-21 at the Purple Panthers own Thanksgiving Tournament just a couple weeks ago.
