The South Central Lady Cougars were able to hold off Webber to get a 54-52 win at home on Thursday night and even up their season record. The Lady Cougars would take advantage of being sent to the free throw line four times in the first quarter, going 7-for-8 at the line to help get them out to a 13-10 lead. After a being held to just three field goals in the second quarter, just as they were the first and scoring half of their points at the free throw line, South Central would struggle at the line in the second quarter going just 3-for-8, but were able to maintain a 3-point lead at the half, 22-19. Despite picking up their scoring in the third quarter, South Central was only able to push their lead out to five points, with a 38-33 advantage going into the fourth quarter. Webber would go on a run and outscore the Cougars 19-16 in the fourth but South Central would hold on and just get by with the 54-52 win. South Central is now 3-3 on the season, having traded wins and losses back and forth across their first six games. They will get back into National Trail Conference action on Monday as they head to Neoga looking for their first conference win of the season.
