District attorneys across Illinois that have filed lawsuits to repeal the SAFE-T Act are looking to consolidate the lawsuits. An agreement has been made to consolidate the lawsuits, which claim the SAFE-T Act is unconstitutional, into one single case in Kankakee County. The controversial criminal justice package eliminates cash bail on January 1. State Senator Neal Anderson, who is a Moline paramedic, said the SAFE-T Act ignores victims of crime.
At last count, 58 Illinois counties are involved with the lawsuit. The motion to consolidate the lawsuits must be ruled on by the Illinois Supreme Court.
