Altamont baseball has earned themselves another shot at one of the four teams to beat them this season and the only team to beat them in conference play this fall. Altamont beat North Clay/Clay City 4-2 on Wednesday in the National Trail Conference Baseball Tournament semifinals to advance on to the Championship game against St. Anthony on Saturday. After NC/CC took the early lead 1-0 in the top of the 2nd inning, the Indians would get their offense going with 3 runs in the bottom half of the 3rd inning. Mason Robinson hit a line drive single to center field to score courtesy runner Justin Magelitz who took the place of Nathan Stuemke who reached base on a double to right field. After Jared Hammer walked to reached base and would be ran for by Aden McManaway, runners would be aboard at first and second and would move up to second and third on a wild pitch. Keinon Eirhart would then hit a line drive double to left field to bring in both Robinson and McManaway and put the Indians up 3-1. Altamont added another run in the bottom of the 4th inning when leadoff hitting Kaidyn Miller doubled to center field and advanced to third on a groundout by Logan Cornett. Miller would then score on a passed ball to put the Indians up 4-1. NC/CC added a run in the top of the 6th inning to make it 4-2, but Altamont would close out the game and earn the win to advance to the championship game.
